AFS-USA Volunteer Re- registration FAQs

1.  Will AFS Online indicate when an individual’s status is Registered Renewal, or just stay in Registered status?
Answer:  AFSONLINE will reflect the status Registered and then show the sub status and date completed. Please see the screenshot from AFSONLINE.

  1. What do the following Registered statuses mean?

Renewal Process – This person has been sent an email to begin the renewal process. Their background check is more than a year old and therefore requires renewal.
App in Review – This person has updated their registration form including legal background info.
BC In Progress – This person has submitted their information for a background check and is awaiting final updating.
Registered – This person has completed all portions of the process and will receive an email instructing them to download their Volunteer Card.

  1. Why are team leaders receiving the same email being sent for newly registered and re-registered volunteers?

Answer: This has been changed and the announcement emails will reflect the status Newly Registered or Re-registered.

 

  1. How does someone get their User ID and password for AFSOnline?

Answer:  There are 2 methods to access this information

  1. Write to  vol.reg@afs.org with that request. However, please be aware that at peak times such as now, the volume of inquiries is very high and it may take some time to receive an answer.
  2. Call your regional staff person. All AFS-USA staff have access to this information.
  1. What if someone does not have computer access to re-r or re-register?

Answer: Currently, re-registration is an automated online process. Please contact the Vol Development office at 1.800.AFSINFO (1.800.237.4636) ext 3 for information on registering off line.
